Similarities between different casino poker games
Although there are a number of different types of poker that can be played at online and physical casino establishments, there are still a number of similarities regarding the way that many of the games are played.
Of course, poker has become one of the most popular casino games that can be played, with blackjack and roulette perhaps amongst some of the other games that are available at a casino.
However, those aforementioned games are considered to be rather straightforward as there are not too many different variations of the game that is played, unlike poker where there are a number of different types of poker games that can be experienced.
Nonetheless, this article is more about the similarities that can be found between those different casino poker games that are on offer, highlighting each of the things that players will be able to expect when they try their hand at them.
Three main types of poker
Although there are many variations in how the game of poker is played, it should be remembered that there are only three main types of the classic card game, with each of them following the same rules.
The first of the main games is the community card poker games, which will cover those games such as the ever-popular Texas Hold’em and Omaha games. This category of game will see players use community cards, which can also be known as shared cards, via the river that is laid out on the middle of the table. They are also dealt individual cards that only they will be able to see and will then need to be able to try and form the best combination by using the community cards that have been dealt.
Stud poker is another form of poker that has a number of different variations, with two examples of this game being Seven Card Stud and Razz. These games will typically see players be dealt a hand that has a combination of exposed and hidden cards, thus potentially making the game a little more strategic than others as information has been made available to everyone around the table, whilst players do not even have all the information about their own cards at the same time.
The last of the main poker types available is the draw poker games such as Five Card Draw. These types of games will see players be dealt hands that are hidden from others at the table and will be able to allow players to try and change their cards for new ones in the hope of trying to obtain a better hand.

Betting limits
Whilst each of the poker games that are available to play at casinos will each having different betting limits, there are still similarities in regards to the way the bets are placed and how each game is structured.
Many poker games will feature one of three different limits: Fixed Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit. The fixed limit is where the bet values are always fixed, whilst a no limit betting stake will mean players can raise or wager whatever they want for their turn, as long as they match the previous bet that has been placed (sometimes generating very exciting moments like in WSOP 2016).
A Pot Limit staking option is whereby players will see their bets and raises be limited by the total number of chips that are available in the pot at the time they are about to make a bet.
