What is Duplicate Bridge?
Duplicate bridge is the most widely used variation of contract bridge played in clubs and at bridge tournaments. It is called duplicate because the same bridge deal (i.e. the specific arrangement of the 52 cards into the four hands) is played at each table and scoring is based on how well you did on the hand as compared to everyone else who played it. 45th World Bridge Team Championships
- The 45th World 2021 Bridge Team Championships (Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup, d’Orsi Seniors Trophy, Wuhan Cup & World National Teams Trophy) is taking place in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy from 27th March to 9th April 2022. Click here for official tournament information pages →
SUNDAY BULLETIN: THRILLS AND SPILLS IN THE RACE FOR GOLD
The final day of the 45th World Team Championships featured some exciting deals as the players battled for supremacy. In the Venice Cup Turkey regained some ground in the fourth set, but Sweden pulled away decisively in the next one to retain their crown (or should we say tiara). It was a similar story in the d’Orsi Trophy where India gained points in the first session of the day only to see Poland sweep them aside in the next one. The Wuhan Cup was a closer affair, but France picked up points in sets 4 & 5 and maintained their advantage in the last session. The centerpiece was the magnificent contest between the Netherlands and Switzerland, the lead changing hands several times. A thrilling final session saw both sides miss chances, but at the end it was Switzerland who emerged as the winners of one of the great Bermuda Bowl finals.

Interesting Information
The 12th World Bridge Series (Rosenblum Cup, McConnell Cup, Rand Cup, Mixed Teams & Open. Women, Seniors, Mixed Pairs) will be held in Wroclaw, Poland from 19th August to 3rd September 2022.
The 7th World Youth Transnational Bridge Championship will be held in August in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy. The Youth Committee is defining the dates that will be published next week, together with all the useful information.
