Bridge isn’t the only game he plays, however it is his favourite, and that shows with the fact that he has won a number of world championships. He enjoys the fact that bridge is a game that can take years to master to an impressive level, and he finds competing thrilling. Akio Kashiwagi

Baccarat is another hugely popular game, and Akio Kashiwagi has made his career almost entirely from playing the game. He is nicknamed ‘The Warrior’, and with very good reason. It is reported that Kashiwagi earned upwards of $100 million per year from competing in baccarat tournaments, making him one of the richest competitive card players in the world. In the past, he has been known to play for 80 hours straight – and still have the strength of mind to win games. Unfortunately, Kashiwagi died in 1992, however it would have been fascinating to see just how far his skills could have taken him in the future.

Doyle Brunson

Doyle Brunson is arguably the most famous poker player in the world, with many players from competitive circles aspiring to his levels of success in their own play. Brunson has won the World Series of poker ten times, which makes him the most successful player in the world. Although Brunson officially retired from the game in 2018, he still remains the most successful player, and there is no other player that currently comes close to even matching his record.

Daniel Negreanu

Now for a more modern player, Daniel Negreanu made his name playing poker, and first became a key name on the scene in the middle of the 00s. His fame was in no small part due to his television appearances in gameshow PokerStars, turning his face into one that people would remember and associate with the game. When it comes to players who have been searched online the most times, Negreanu is firmly at the top of the list. More people have searched for him than for any other player, which only goes to show just how well known he is, and just how much people admire the talent that he has cultivated.
