Influencers dominate the internet, but it’s not all about Feastables and JoyRide candy. Sports betting and gambling tips can also be found all over social media networks if you’re looking to know where to place your bets.

Here’s how to know which sports betting influencers are a safe bet, and how to navigate the world of sports betting influencers to find tips you can trust.

The Top Betting Influencer Platforms

If you’re out there looking for sports betting tips, social media influencers are an increasingly popular way to find them. But which social media sites have the best betting influencers?

The top social media platforms for sports betting influencers are Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and X/Twitter. Other platforms are still on the table – Bluesky Directory lists a growing community of active betting influencers.

Subreddits like /r/sportsbook, /r/sportsbetting, and /r/soccerbetting can also point you in the direction of useful advice or golden advice nuggets.

However, users and influencers should mind the individual platform’s terms. TikTok for Business doesn’t allow online gambling, but allows sports betting when the account meets specific criteria.

There are also specific communities and social media networks exclusively for sports betting, including Blogabet and BetSnap.

    Spotting a Good Influencer

There are good influencers, and there are bad influencers – and it’s unfortunately true that there are many accounts only set up to bring in hits and advertising revenue instead of giving their followers good advice.

Like with any topic, you could visit TikTok and find a video about how to fix your toilet successfully… Or end up with a video that shows you an incorrect method that makes your toilet end up leaking more.

The same rule counts for cooking videos or recipes, handy house hacks, and sports betting influencers.

Never assume that someone’s tips are accurate or winning just because they have a large following. Large doesn’t mean good, and not even in the social media world!

Advice from /r/sportsbook says: choose influencers that have a proven, good track record and ones that have provable wins and profits.

The subreddit /r/FluentInFinance makes an important point, too – this thread discusses bad investment or financial advice that people have received from influencers.

If you’re looking for influencers, look for ones that show consistent results rather than quick ones.

Search out ones that have been around for at least several years with a proven, good track record – and avoid ones that offer deals or advice that seems to good to be true, or accounts that haven’t been active for very long.

One more tip: avoid accounts that appear to have been taken over by AI slop or excess advertising. Usually, these accounts are only redirecting you to their advertising partners or increasing their hits – and might lead straight into scams or bad bets.

The AARP warns that sports betting scams are flourishing – and that while an older generation might be more likely to fall for these scams, a younger generation of betters should be just as careful. These might include:

      • Fake Tipster Accounts: Scammers posing as successful bettors offering paid tips that never win.
      • Guaranteed Win Claims: Influencers claiming “100% guaranteed picks” for a fee—often fraudulent.
      • Phishing Links: Accounts that share malicious links disguised as betting platforms or deals.
      • Impersonation Scams: Fraudsters using names of real influencers to scam followers.
      • Deposit-Only Scams: Platforms or personalities asking for deposits or fees without giving access to actual betting or winnings.

How can you tell a good influencer’s tip from a bad influencer’s tip?

Simply, you should be looking for verifiable accounts with a good track record. Sports betting influencers that have been in the business for several years are more likely to provide good, consistent advice.

Look for influencers who have positive feedback from their following. More than this, make sure their following consists of real people posting honest reviews.

Also look for influencers who can provide a detailed analysis of their tips.

Someone who can tell you why their strategy works is more likely to pay off than influencers who only post tips without the explanation.

A lot can also be said for following your gut feeling. Sometimes good influencers post bad tips, or you have a feeling that a particular betting tip may not be what it’s cracked up to be – and in this case, it’s almost always smart to pass.

Finding Your Match: Sports Betting Influencers and YOU

The world of sports betting influencers can fast turn into a rapid rabbit hole. There are thousands of influencers to choose from, and there are more accounts every day – when all you really wanted was to find some sports betting tips!

The good news is that several websites list active and reliable accounts across various sports. This way, you have a starting point for who to follow.

It’s a good idea to also check relevant sports betting threads on Reddit such as /r/sportsbook for users who ask and post about their favourite betting influencers. Many good suggestions also appear here!
