What are Indian Cricketers up to in Quarantine?

Covid-19 pandemic has brought the world to the standstill. The situation is tough for all, especially for athletes, such as cricketers, who are used to playing, training, or just being active in some or the other way.

Indian cricketers, more often than not, travel from one place to the other due to the tight cricketing schedule. If not the international matches, there are domestic seasons or tournaments such as IPL. So, this quarantine is like putting them into a situation which is totally opposite of what they are used to.

What are your favourite Indian Cricketers up to is the question that might have hit you. Well, let us have a look at what some of the Indian cricketers are doing during this quarantine to pass their time, enhancing their skills, or just to relax.

  • Virat Kohli:

Virat Kohli, the captain of Indian cricket team across all formats, is probably the busiest and talented cricketer in the world. What is your captain up to?

Well, Virat has been very active on social media, connecting with fellow cricketers such as Kevin Pietersen, AB de Villiers, and many others. Not only are they discussing cricket, but also about the current pandemic situation in their respective countries. The Indian cricket team captain also connected with the Indian Football team captain – Sunil Chettri where they really got along well due to their common interest for sports and love for Delhi.

Along with being active on social media, the Indian cricket team captain is also working on his fitness and is seen doing some tough exercises in videos posted on social media. He is also keeping himself entertained by watching some riveting web series. Expect him to come back stronger and fresher as and when cricket resumes.

  • MS Dhoni:

Known as the coolest cricketer to ever grace the cricket, MS Dhoni is certainly living up to the title. He almost seems unfazed by the situation, just like on the field of cricket, and is enjoying some quality time with his daughter Ziva and wife Sakshi.

Before the quarantine, Dhoni was seen practising in Chennai for the upcoming IPL season. He certainly wanted to make a massive impact during this IPL. Now that there is no clarity about when the IPL might start, Dhoni is more focussed on spending some quality time with his family.

  • Shikhar Dhawan:

Shikhar is a jovial person and has the ability to see a positive side in any situation that comes his way. This year, he was supposed to play for the Delhi side in IPL as opposed to Hyderabad in previous seasons.

After the pandemic situation and quarantine made compulsory, Shikhar has been posting many videos with his son, Zoravar. The father and son duo are seen playing indoor cricket, with the son clearly getting better of the father.

Along with spending quality time with his son, Shikhar is also spending time on social media and connecting with other prominent sports personalities to share quarantine experiences.

We hope to see the same aggressive style of batting from Shikhar when cricket returns.

  • Rohit Sharma:

The elegant right-handed opener of Indian cricket team Rohit Sharma has been spending most of his time with his daughter Samaira and wife Ritika.

Along with family time, he is active on social media, where he has connected with Kevin Pietersen, Rishabh Pant, and other fellow cricketers. The discussions during such sessions revolve around cricket, life in quarantine, and how they are finding ways to stay fit during such difficult times.

Rohit during one of his chat sessions also revealed that cricketers don’t get enough time to spend with their family, and this pandemic is a blessing in disguise with respect to that.

Rohit was recovering from injury before the pandemic and was focussed on doing well in the IPL 2020. But the Covid-19 situation has put all his plans on hold, leaving him with no choice but to focus on staying positive and waiting for the cricket to resume.

  • R. Ashwin:

India’s ace off-spinner Ashwin seems to be making the most out of his quarantine time. He has started an online talk show ‘Reminisce with Ash’ where he interacts with various sporting personalities about their experiences of the game.

The off-spinner is seen asking some questions that might put the guests in a spot, but all this is done in a fun way. Also, Ashwin is working on his fitness and is looking forward to the IPL 2020 where he will be playing for the new franchise Delhi. This street-smart cricketer is sure to be a big buy for the Delhi team, thanks to his cricketing smartness and the variations that he has.

Ashwin is also spending some quality time with his two daughters and wife. Once cricket resumes, we can expect the best of Ashwin – the talented off-spinner.

Along with the cricketers mentioned above, Hardik Pandya, Bumrah, Shami, and others are finding ways to stay fit and connect with fellow cricketers online.

Cricket has already resumed with the England and West Indies Test series. The series is closely monitored with respect to safety measures of the players and officials involved. Also, fans are not allowed to come to the stadium and watch their favourite players play.
